    Filling kicker holes

    Hi Gents,

Took the kicker off my new to me boat and are left with the holes.

I guess I could just put bolts in the holes with silicone, but I was wondering if anyone had a cleaner method?

I'd thicken up some resin with cabosil to fill personally. That's how I filled probably 100 holes in the boat I'm doing. You can get a gel kit too and you won't even know they were there. Marine tex will work too though you won't be able to put gel over it.

    Gel kit?
I have smaller transducer holes and a few chips to fill.
Can I use the same stuff?

Here's links to the stuff I used. You'll be into it for like $80 in materials. Get some small cheap plastic containers from the dollar store to mix in, some fat popsicle sticks to mix, some tape and some sandpaper and you're all set. Pour a couple oz of resin in a container (helps to have a small digital scale), put in the corresponding number of drops of MEKP, mix it, add some cabosil and fill the holes (put some tape on one side of the hole). When that cures you can sand it and then go over it with the gel coat repair kit, just follow the directions. You can add some flake too, there's some good videos on Youtube that'll show you how to do the gel repairs. You can do the same for all the little holes and chips.

That's the cleanest way to do it. If you're not super worried about how it looks then the Marine Tex will work just fine too.

    Back to this project.
Marina's are closed here in Canada, so my selection of product is limited.
This does not need to blend in. Just keep water out of my transom.
My concern is whatever I use will sag before it sets.
    Will this work?

Use the Marine Tex if you are not concerned with color. Or squirt 3M 4200 or 5200 in the holes.

The problem with 4200 or 5200 is it runs out of the hole before it sets.
I'm thinking about just putting spray foam in the holes. After it sets, I'll clear out an 1/8' and seal it with JB marine weld.

Then use the marine tex and be done with it. It's great stuff. White or gray.

Or squirt the stuff in and put a piece of clear tape over it while it clears.

I put masking tape over so there's no run out.

I’ve come up with a plan.
I put in 1/2” dowels just shy of the surface.
    Coated them with 5200.
I’ll give it a couple of days to dry a bit and then cover the holes with JB marine.
