I spoke with the Ranger parts department to get info on the new coin box option.
Hers the price and parts list to be done factory.

I know pricey.. BUt it is fiberglass and lockable and matches your boat. PLUS...it gives a place to step up and NOT on your seats.

$800!? I priced a whole new bench with coin box(new seats, coin box, everything) before I sold my 2003 185VS and it was just over $1100 shipped to MN.

I just found out they DO NOT make a coin box for anything but the RT 198 at this time. I am going to check around as I know Bass Boat Seats makes one for about $125.
If any of you guys know of any that will fit in a RT188, PLEASE let me know, OR I will make my own.

I put the console in from Bass Boat Seats. It is very durable and seems to fit the bill. I like the way it looks as well as the storage it provides. I do believe it is on sale right now for 99.00

I talked to Ranger dealer and I was told the Fiberglass Coin box was only for the RT 198. I want the fiberglass coin box as show below.
Will it fit in my RT 188?? Where did you get your coin box and did you install it your self? It shows in the RT 188 brochure. I want one for mine.

The 198p was initially the only boat that had the fiberglass coin box option. They have since added it to the RT188 and RT178, but not sure if it will retrofit the previous year models. Parts Department is your best source on that.

I ordered my boat with the coin box installed. As 5star said, it was originally offered on the 198 only. 2018 was the first year that it was offered on the 178 and 188. I just checked the Ranger website and it lists the coin box as an option on the 178, 188 and 198. It cost $427.00 under the miscellaneous options.

I took the Bass Boat Seat coin box and reworked it a little. It fits nicely and does not break the bank.

Did you order the seat box also cause it’s not a bolt deal. To do like the factory it would require a new seat box.
