run another wire to the crank battery thus making 36v. can this be a good practice or is it a no no
to create 36v.? running 24v now

Using the starting battery as part of 36v is not a good practice to do. Many reasons why not to.

what motor are you running on 24v now? If it's a 36v that is not good either.

Although it can be done, for many reasons it's not a recommended practice. If you do, make sure the ground to the to the trolling motor is connected to the cranking battery ground. If not, electrolysis will occur.
