Yep they'll eat em. Cant speak much on lakes, but I've caught a bunch on rivers throwing them. Clear water lake a skirtless with fluke trailer might be better. Probably fish it a little faster and deeper.
Skeete Reese won a MLF event a few years ago on one fishing for Smallmouth
They enjoy them very much. At times it's THE bait to throw for them.
