if we are punching or fishing heavy cover we run 65. We use 50 if we are fishing reads or pads, and go down to 30 if we are fishing weedlines.

Im not a fan of Power pro either, but i would be changing the weight, more than likely it wore the line out and broke it.

Personally I’m not a fan of Power Pro but it did well for me in saltwater in the 90s and 00s. With Sufix 832 I find it to be unbrekable really. I almost always use a Palomar Knot, never had it fail on me. The problem with braid is that you can’t really tell when it has been nicked by a barb or something so the failure could have been from anything.

I use an orange plastic bead when flipping (since it’s close to the color of a bluegills breat, and resembles an eye in shape) between my hook and weight with the bobber stop above the weight. I usually flip with 65 and haven’t had a failure.

Im not a fan of the snell knot, it’s personal preference. I’d chalk it up to bad luck, but I would inspect your flipping weights for any burrs near the base.
