    Restoring 1987 Cajun Espirit 185

Posting the start of my restoration project for the winter. Basically no room in my garage for anything but the boat now. (Hence having to move all my storage totes to the sides so forgive my messed up garage, but had to get the boat inside before it snows)

Picked up the boat trailer and 175 HP Mercury for $500. Basically entire interior is garbage, but boat hull is sound and the motor is in decent shape.

Not my first restoration and I am also finishing up my 1969 Fury (smokercraft) 12 foot John Boat and matching period correct Mercury model 40 (4hp) outboard.

Pics are here of the boat as purchased and the initial teardown. 4 garbage cans and 3 bags of trash later....

Sorry for not updating but I’ve been working non stop for last month. Hopefully I can get some traction on the boat this weekend and get the floor out and finish cleaning the interior

Bought all the supplies and I have enough new glass , resin, gel coat and epoxy to build a new boat...

im removing all of the fabric, padding and carpet and the new floor and sides will be self bailing and use an gel coated deck with awlgrip in the main traffic areas and casting deck.

next is ordering seats.. looking at bassboatseats.com and saw they already have restoration pics on their site of another espirit but in blue. Anyone else order from them?

lastly I got replacement decals for the motor and will outsource the cowl work to a local paint shop.
