2016 150HO while winterizing this year the engine would rev wildly on the 2nd stage of holding in the idle button and advancing the throttle, it stayed in neutral but reved like it was in gear. After 4 or 5 tries I wiggled the handle all the way back and forth with the button held in a few times then on the sequence after that it worked. Any suggestions on where to start looking or should I just take to the shop(90 miles away) next spring?

I've had ETECs since 05 and that's how I do it, it's just this year on the 2nd step the engine stayed in neutral but revved way to high.

I have a 2020 135 Etec, I put a hotfoot on mine, I was told it should not make a difference, but taking the boat out for the last time, I tried the suggested method and it would not work......Any suggestions?
