Anyone connect Echomap Plus to 24v?

I know the manual says 9-18V.

Why 24v? I don’t plan to pull another wire to get 12v.

Havent, but been thinking about hooking mine to a 18volt lithium battery which could be up to 20volts for ice fishing.

Many of the other units like the gpsmap and livescope box are rated 10-32volts so interesting the echomap unit wouldnt be the same

No, with expensive electronics, I generally stick to the manufacturer's recommendations on input voltage.

There is a thing called a “buck converter” you can get off amazon or similar to down convert the voltage.

Don't most everyone recommend NOT hooking electronics to trollng batteries?
My wife asks if I'm going to fish every day. I can't fish every day. Some days I might be sick.

Yes, this is something Garmin misssed thinking. I mentioned it here before.

With LiveScope so power demanding, I have always been using TM battery for its power as an exception. I don’t want to get stuck in a lake with cranking failure again.

And to get the same grounding (and avoid possible messup), my ECHOMAP Plus is always getting SAME POWER SUPPLY as the LiveScope Black Box.

Now I’m thinking to upgrade to 24 V, and this issue pops out again.

If you used 12V for the LiveScope blackbox, most likely you would have to upgrade your wire AWG first.

My boat has 12V power supply to the bow, but it’s useless for LiveScope as it’s 16AWG or 18 AWG.

However, TM wires are 8 or 10 AWG. This is partially why I use TM battery for LiveScope.
