    G Loomis question

I acquired a BCR802 Mossy Back med casting rod. Ex condition but one guide is missing the insert. Where does this rod fall in terms of the Loomis line? What is the value if I sell it as is? Ty.

I would put the mossyback line right under the old imx line. I would say in good condition $200 would be a good price. With the guide damage I’d say at least the cost of repair off that price.

Value with a broken guide needing repair I would say $125-150 tops. Like everything else it depends on how badly someone wants something. For a near mint rod with no flaws I couldn’t see them fetching much over $175. You can buy the older classic GLX rods for $175 to $300 depending on the model. I bought my BCR 803 GLX locally for $150 so if I had to have it shipped maybe $185.

I agree mostly, but would personally put it even a little lower. The bolded part is why I think it's a $100 stick pre-repair. Those old GLX are way more desirable I think, and maybe I've just not paid attention but those fetching $300 sounds really optimistic to me no matter what the model...it seems I've seen the old GLX fetch $200-225 on the top end. The Mossy Backs seem to have always been looked down on in comparison, right or wrong, and the original price is gonna cap the price no matter what anyhow.

In my opinion, you're better off getting it fixed and hanging onto it unless you really just don't/won't fish it.

Drew there are a fewer of the older GLX rods that fetch around $300, the GLX 893 comes to mind. Have also seen a few mint or near mint models with the Wiebe seat fetch good money due to the rarity of the reel seat.
