Which should I choose, Spitfire X7 or Trophy Plus?

I am currently in a Ranger Z117 with a Mercury ProXS 115 running a Laser II with a 21 pitch. I get about 47 mph with 5900 RPM. Very happy with those numbers. What I would like to do is get a second prop that gets me a better hole shot even if I loose 4-6mph top speed (I don't need it on the lakes I am on).

I plan on going to another 21 pitch but I don't know if the Spitfire or the Trophy Plus would be better.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

What is the max RPM on your 115 Pro XS? Is it the 2 stroke version or the newer 4 stroke? I have a 2019 115 Pro XS Four Stroke and it has a 6300 max RPM. I run a 17P X7 on my 681 and it flies out of the hole even with the gas tank up in the bow. The X7 props bite hard and hold very well in the corners. This was prop testing with my old motor last year comparing a 22P Laser II with a 19P X7. You might lose a little on top end with the 19P X7 but you'll get closer to max RPM and the holeshot will be vastly improved.

When I tested props on the new motor, the 22P Laser II gave me 10.3 second 0-20, the 19P X7 gave me 9.0 seconds 0-20 and the 17P X7 was at 6.8 seconds for 0-20 on the Vessel View Mobile app.

I think that my max RPM is 6000, it is a 2014 two stroke. If I drop to the 19P, I might have too many RPMs. I'll see if I can try both.

You answered my question though, I'll go with the X7, just need to find out if 19P or 21P is going to be the one.

    Thanks for the help.

For your 2nd prop, get a 20P Laser II and have Mark Croxton add cup to it. My experience with the X7 was not the best. There was no bow lift at cruising and WOT speeds. The Laser II 20P will get you out of the hole very well and you may not lose any speed at all once Mark adds cup.

Why buy a 20" laser II and add cup when he already has a 21" that Mark can work to true factory spec and it will be a better prop than he has now and he will gain some speed since the prop is slipping pretty bad right now. If you want a 4 blade buy the X7 in 21"

Because he said he wants a second prop for better holeshot and doesn't care to lose speed. Adding cup to the 21P Laser will hurt his holeshot but improve his top end with my experience with those props.

Never said add cup I said have the prop worked to factory spec because most of them are off out of the box.
