    Is iPilot worth the $$?

Just bought a boat with a motorguide. Will only tun on high speed. After some research it seems to be common problem. Looking to just replace it rather than fix as its 11 yrs old. Will likely go with min kota. I dont fish tournaments, just pleasure bass fishing. Should I spend the extra on the ipilot? Or just get a nice kota without?

definitely worth the money. In addition to iPilot you will get SPOTLOCK and all the other new enhancements many of which you will love. Your main decision will be whether or not you want iPilot Link or not.

Spot-Lock will change the way you fish. Every company when they come out with something new they say it's a (gamechanger) which turns out it wasn't just hype. When Minn Kota came out with I-Pilot and spot-Lock it was and still is a Game-Changer and worth the cost.

Are you asking about ipilot, or did you mean spend the extra for ipilot link? Ipilot answer is “hell yes”. Link answer is “it depends”.

Without link you can spotlock and jig and goto a limited number of waypoints that are created and saved on the remote.

With link you get the spotlock and jog plus goto any waypoint on your graph that’s within a quarter mile, plus circle a waypoint at a variable radius, plus follow a contour line, plus steer the trolling motor from your console unit, plus create and follow a route from your graph, plus backtrack (may not need link for this).

I love my Ultrex, I have the ipilot link model and dont use all it can do. The autopilot is great as well as the spot lock. I fished an electric motor only lake Sunday and at the end of the day I sat back at the console, enjoyed a drink and steered the boat with the remote back to the ramp. I was side imaging all the way and found some nice stuff for future exploration next time I am there. It has changed the way I fish.

If you think you may ever get the link it will be cheaper to purchase with the motor than add on later, about$400 cheaper

That will be quite a bargain for 2K! Good luck and call a board sponsor for a price before you commit. Bob

Think I might splurge for the link TM. After watching to review and such. All but hands free when following a contour no?

Yes IF the contours are Lakemater HD waters, Auto Chart maps, or Auto Chart Live maps.
Will not work with non-HD Lakemaster, Humminbird Basemap, ContourXD, or Navionics maps.

How do I find that information out?

Do I have to buy a map package? Or does the hummingbird come with them

I pilot is only worth it if you like fishing.
Link is pretty expensive. Not that many extra features to justify the price difference IMO.

Get a terrova. I've had both terrova and powerdrive. The better deploy mechanism is worth the price difference in itself.
