I pilot has benefits since you run bird. I would spend the extra 300$

my number one reason is- on the map when you hit N^ button it casts a pink line across the screen. On the screen you can T up a waypoint and know exactly where to cast based off the direction it pointing. Even sweeter when you have live scope to verify its distance

The link has a bunch of features when you combine it with the Helix or any other newer bird unit

Beside seeing your heading on the chart you can adjust it so you move at the exact angle you want
Now any waypoint you have on the chart you can now go to using the trolling motor (up to ¼ mile away)
You can see your spot lock icon on the chart and watch as you jog to or move a round a waypoint
You can circle a waypoint using the circle mode

When combined with a lakemaster chart card you can follow contours as well

Don’t forget to set the arrival mode
You can set the trolling motor to just turn off or spot lock when you arrive at a waypoint
