    Prop suggestions?

I have an Xpress X70 with 150 Yamaha Vmax and 6” jackplate. It had a 14.5 x 25 Yamaha M25 prop on it when I bought it. I was only getting 5000 or so RPM and about 52 MPH. I tried a 4 blade 24P just because it was all I had access to and it did no better. The boat has natural bow lift so I don’t need that. I’m looking for suggestions as to which prop I should get. I want to stay 3 blade and drop in pitch to get my RPM higher. Any suggestions on pitch, diameter, brand..etc? Also prop to pad? I read on owner lists that people are getting better numbers and performance
with my same set up. Any help is welcome!

The prop is correct. I’d look into a foiled plug. You should see those speeds on 5 cyl.

I’ll check into that as well. I’ve personally compression tested all cylinders both hot and cold and they’re all within a couple psi of each other so I’ll get new plugs in there as well but I’ve been told by two local prop guys that I’m over propped. So I’m getting conflicting opinions right now. Thanks

I wouldn’t doubt a fouled plug because of how the oil arm linkage was originally set when I got this boat recently. It was far from the stop pin and after adjusting it I never did put new plugs in. Any suggestion on the plugs besides the NGK BRS whatevers I’ve been putting in??

Put in the original spec plug. The 150 Yamaha has 2.0 gear sets and can turn a 25 pitch prop with ease. I owned that identical rig, so I know.

Can I ask what your set up was? Prop type, pitch, diameter, prop to pad height....
whatever you can share would help me get mine dialed in. Thanks

    I owned a X18 and X19, Both with 150 V-Max... The X19 would turn a 25M Pro Series to 60+ mph. The X70 runs like the X19.
