There's a lot of Ned baits out there.

Man there have been a lot of manufacturers introducing new Ned baits. Scored some on TW today. Xzone, Reins, Yum, Strike King, and of course Z-man. I'm going to be trying out a lot of stuff this winter.

Cool. Interested to hear your take on the new baits. I’ve tried other brands but the TRD is still my favorite

Yeah I hear you, hard to find anything better than a cut in half Zinker or the TRD. I'll keep trying however.

I think replicating the buoyancy is the key. We'll see how these new baits compare.

I have used some different ones myself. I still find the TRD from Z Man has always caught me more fish.

I finally broke down about 2 months ago after all these years & tried it when it was really tough on my local lake & started fishing it. The finesse trd seems to work best atleast for me around here. I have been making my own senkos with the do it mold & cutting them in half & now i've bought the midwest finesse mold too. Fishing them on 1/5 oz. heads & catching a lot of smallmouth both shallow & deep on them. A lot of little ones, but atleast one 18" or more every time i've fished it so i'm liking it pretty good. I'm looking forward to trying it when it isn't hardly as tough as it is now to see how it works.

As well as plastic baits, I fish a leech streamer pattern hare jig as a drop-shot bait...

    Not to hijack the thread.....

Where do we draw the line from NED to Shakey head? If I have a 3/16oz head with 4.5" worm is it a ned or shakeyhead? Is it about exposed hook or not? What if I put the big TRD on a "shakey head?"

Just gotta ask as trying to simplify my tackle and wondering how often I need a true "ned head" if I throw mainly a 4" bait for my "ned bait"

Just me, but I'd call it a shaky head.

I've been fishing these Picasso Rhino heads for 4.5" Roboworms, they have a nice little V-shaped weed guard. Thrown Trick worms on them too. Probably good for a lot of other small plastics too, just haven't had time to fish them much. Really like them for the Roboworms so far. Pretty darn snagless too, which is important on the rocky, wood junk filled lakes I fish.

Pretty simple if you can feel it, it's a shakeyhead. I fish the same lakes as Quillback, but rarely lose a ned rig, lose lots of shakeyheads.
