I’m no expert but the TR196 is a totally different hull, and is a hot little boat. The 196 is very comparable in size to the old TR20(pre 2001) but has a little wider front deck, and the different hull. I have had a 1999 TR19, a 2000 TR20, and an 2008 TR196. I liked the first two but love the 196.

Buster are you asking about the the TR19X vs TR196? I have a copy of the 2004 brochure if it helpful to you. Happy to send it. The hulls, I think I'm correct here, didn't change until the 2007 model year.

Actually, as I look at this '04 brochure, the Tr19 top cap is considerably different than the Tr196. The spec's are identical but there are noticeable differences in the top cap, splash well, sponsons. No idea what any of that meant in terms of $.

The TR196 is larger up front than the older model TR20, but very similar from the cockpit back. One of the greatest combos of deck space, storage, dry ride and speed ever built IMO.

Agreed 100%. Its a shame Triton discontinued that hull. I would of bought a new one in a heartbeat. The BassCat PII is the only 19ft boat I have found to beat that TR196 in speed/performance with a 200hp motor. I truly miss my TR196. Maybe Caymus Boats can make a similar hulled 19ft boat.

The 196 was made from 2004 until 2008

I have a 2004 TR-196 with the 3.0 litre Mercury EFI which I have owned since 2005 and have been looking at a lot of new rigs but the layout and performance is great . Just haven’t found anything that makes me want to switch
