I am thinking about buying a boat with a 2011 sho 225. I have heard there were major problems with these early motors that end up being very expensive to fix. There are roughly 300 hours on the motor. Should I avoid any of the early sho’s?
thanks

I would certainly have the engine checked out thoroughly = Compression test, leak down test, past alarms and if it’s possibly received a powerhead under warranty. If it has not received the new powerhead then I would continue looking at other boats.
My 225 @ 377 hours, with a rebuilt power head @105 hours (2015), just started blowing white some after a low pressure alarm ... oil is milky as well. It was maintained to manufacture specs.

The shos that received new power heads were early shos . Late 2011 SHOs already had the new power head , so they didn’t need a new one. You should be fine if it made it to 300 it should make it to 1500. Most SHOS with problems blow up early
