So are you guys using a deep cycle for a cranking battery? I'm confused.
no we are using AGM which is basically a dual purpose all in one battery. High cca for cranking the motor combined with a high reserve capacity (like a deep cycle). Typically what you see in a lead acid is either a high cca and a low reserve know as staring batteries or you get a deep cycle with low cca and high reserve capacity. AGM is the most recommended battery for marine use on the trolling motor and starting battery. Usually they cost a few hundred bucks each vs a lead acid which is around 80-120 bucks on average.

Hope it aint true but my Exide seems to be getting weak for the very first crank of the morning.....today, on it was at 10v on first turn over and wasnt even that cold outside.....after that it cranked with not issue for rest of day.......
