2019 Z520C - Ultrex Cable Blocks View of Bow Console Mounted Lowrance Unit

On my brand new boat, when I deploy the Minn Kota Ultrex 36v 112lb 45inch trolling motor (t/m) into the water, the Ultrex cable blocks my view of the HDS-9 Live unit mounted in the bow console plate.

Has anyone one run into this same issue? If so, what was the correction?

The picture below is the t/m in the stowed position but you can imagine that cable blocks the Live unit screen when the t/m is deployed into the water.

I tied my cables to hold them out of the way to “train” them in the sun a few times now they stay out of the way

Twisting the pedal one turn worked for you? By the way, I like your tag line.

Search my post as I added the tool holder from a Nitro as it had a corner cutout that worked perfect for keeping the TM cable off the fwd plotter. I think it was like $26 including the cup holder and bungee

It helped a little but I have mine mounted up higher on a BBT mount.

I use the velcro strap from the motor mount itself to pull and hold the steering cables out away from the graph.

With the Ultrex on my former 2011 Z519, my bow sonar mounted with Precision Sonar gimbal mount brackets solved that view issue too.

Would that have worked if your sonar was mounted in the bow console plate instead of up high on the gimbal mount?

Yes, it made a lazy "S" when stowed and stays against the mount when deployed. You can add a cable guide in the mount side plate to hold the cable to the left away from the Sonar. I ran mine under the Hydrowave to hold it in place.

On the water, I used the Ultrex t/m strap with Velcro on it to help pull the cable away from the front bow embedded graph and it is starting to 'retrain' the location of the cable. With the boat in the garage, I have the cable roped to the t/m bracket mount structure and it is continuing to 'retrain' the cable location. Looking at the t/m side plate, there is one screw available for service but I haven't figured out what to use to connect a rope to it (e.g., maybe a plastic clamp of some sort)?

I use the factory gimbal mount on a thicker custom bow plate (courtesy of Ghost Commanche) that raises the unit...the troll cables are below the unit. HDS12-live

Hopefully this will work to retrained the trolling motor (t/m) cable. I bought a nylon coated cable clamp made my Jandorf. Removed the last stainless steel screw from the Ultrex side plate, picked out a longer screw and a few washers and attached the cable clamp to the side plate. Then I tied the t/m cable to the cable clamp with some soft, red, chord.

UPDATE 12/6/2019: As you know my bow sonar is embedded in the front bow panel and the trolling motor cable was blocking my view to the sonar screen. I mentioned it to Cabela's about twisting the foot pedal one turn and that's what they did. The cable now is positioned closer to the trolling motor bracket and out of the way. Thanks to Capw for the suggestion. No more taking the trolling motor tie down strap and using that to pull the cable away from my sonar screen!
