i am not near my boat. does anyone know if a group 31 battery will fit in the battery trays?

The standard battery trays are for Group 27's. You can replace that with a batter tray sized for a Group 31.

What year. Mine came with 27s but 31s fit into the existing trays

31s fit in my 2015 FX20 trays just fine.

Battery boxes are more generic so your box may fit a 31 series battery. 31 series fit in all my boxes..

24 - 10-3/16 L, 6-13/16 W, 9-7/16 H
27 - 12 L, 6-13/16 W, 9-1/2 H
31 - 13 L, 6-3/4 W, 9-7/8 H
