    I had used "Brasso" years ago to clean up sun baked fiberglass trailer fenders. Results were OK. From the sounds of it I think compounding with a machine may be the best approach.

    I would not use muriatic acid. I use the stuff to lower PH in our pool and it’s beyond corrosive if not careful.

    Best advice I got was to toss a bar of Lava soap in the bilge area and leave it there; it works great. Used it for years in my Cougar FTD.
