2000 Champion 203

I'm looking at possibly picking up a 2000 Champ 203. It has a blown powerhead so I'll need to repower and curious what the max HP rating is on the 203?

Thanks! The guy sent me a pic of the plate and it said any V6 so that's good. Yeah, I've never heard anything bad about the 203 and that's a good thing!

With a 225-250 it will be a rocket.

What would a 203 be worth with no engine and what would one be worth with a 250? I just need ballpark so I can negotiate a price with no engine.

Depends on how good of shape is it in...........Hull and trailer in good shape maybe $7500(give or take $2500).

Woah...Joe you finally getting into a Champ?? A 203 will be a sweet smooth ride. Let me know if you pull the trigger. And if you do, I expect a courtesy ride, just like the one I gave you on Erie many years ago.

I'm just looking but we'll see. The price is right but need to make sure the numbers work out with repowering it. It has a 2000 Evinrude 225 on it now so I may throw the 250 Rude from my boat on it and get a newer Etec for my Ranger.

I'm curious to see how different the 203 is to the Ranger. You can borrow it any time you want!

Ranger probably much roomier, and stable while fishing. That 203 is only a tic behind the Champ 202 in terms of ultimate ride. You'll love driving the Champ and love fishing out of the Ranger.

The 203 is narrower so it will be more "tippy" moving around on it. But in the rough you will enjoy the ride. Rear deck storage goes to Ranger, bow and rod locker storage I'd saw the 203 has more. The 203 is more sensitive to weight placement for all out performance.

Due to scheduling conflicts missed out on it. Someone got a 203 at a smoking deal.

I have a love hate relationship with mine. I love driving and riding in it, but it gets irritating when fishing in heavy boat traffic, you have to stay heads up or you will get off balance quick fishing in swells and boat rollers with its "tippy" nature. hard to beat its style and it draws compliments everywhere I take it.
