    Hyco or Lake Gaston

If you had a choice which lake would you purchase a house on?

I've fished both a lot and either would be a nice location as the water is stable on both. I've got four acres at Gaston and plan to build next year.

Hyco would be OK but Duke Energy has put various fees on having boat docks you might want to contact Larry Hyco and get his take on all that stuff going on at Hyco??????

Doesn't matter, if you can afford to live on Hyco you'll be on one of the prettiest lakes there is. Many of the boat houses alone are worth well over the cost of the normal single family home elsewhere. The boat house, yard and its landscaping then the actual house itself, if Hyco is an option your doing well.

Riding around the lake you'll see some of the nicest houses on any of our lakes, Lake Norman is roughly the same but for this area, Hyco is pretty awesome and the fishing is quite good too. Not uncommon to go out and catch 20 - 30 in one day.

Should I look to retire there? Do they have an HOA? Buying an house/slip not a problem.. Just don’t want to burdened with to many HOA rules, etc..

If you come down and look contact me and I’ll take you around. I’m partial to Hyco. I’ve owned property on the lake sense the 70s. There is a lot I love and a lot I dislike.

Don't get me wrong folks. If I were in the market to move to a lake and live full time Hyco would be that lake. As stated in a prior post there are some really beautiful locations on Hyco. As far as fishing, Bass fishing Hyco is known state wide as one of the biggest destinations for great fishing.
