Do I need a Jackplate on an AVX1880
I'm looking more at performance gains than a powerpole mount.
Ill L probably go with the Suzuki 115 or the Pro XS, fwiw.

Mine came with a manual jackplate for the Rude 135, not sure if you will need one, but the setback gets the prop into clean water.......probably more for a hole shot than anything.

I am going in 3 weeks to put a deposit down on an 1880. I've had similar questions. From everyone I've spoke with a jack plate is not needed. The performance gain is minimal. The G2 HOs are getting better numbers than the other motors of the same HPs if it matters. There is now a 115HO G2!

I have historically run jackplates on all the boats I have owned, which has been many over the years. I have an AVX 1880 with 115 Pro XS. I have run the boat with AND without a jack plate with NO PERFORMANCE difference between with and without. On cool crisp days I can get just over 51 mph on GPS 513.jpg

So no different with a jack as far speed then??

Nope, I have run my both ways, no noted performance difference in top end.

So if I raised motor from 2nd whole on mount to 3rd hole u don't think it would change anything I'm getting about 47 to 48 mph gps

Like I said, I ran with a jack plate and without with same results. Don't think moving your engine one mounting hole is going to make any difference at all. JMO
