    171 info

I am looking at a champ 171 sc. The pictures look like it has a good size deck for a smaller boat. Is this a beam forward boat and if so how does it fish, ride compared to an older model 176. All input appreciated from anyone that has fished out of one.
    thanks

I have, it's not a beam forward like the 188, 198, 206, but noticeably more than the 176. Really nimble and quick hull, if you like the 176, you'll really like the 171. Put a 2.0 135 merc on it and you'll find it's potential.

Pat once again is spot on. A 171 was my first Champion and the 135 really makes it a very quick and fun boat to drive. Not bad in rough water either for a 17 foot boat. Many of these came with a 115 motor on them and that was just not enough.
