    Front deck compartment lids squeaking

Please tell me how to get rid of the squeaks and creaks when I’m standing on my front deck compartments.

Mine were creaking at the hinges. I sprayed some WD-40 on the hinges and open and closed them a bunch of times. It cleared it up for me.

Don't wax the fiberglass under the lids. The squeak is the lid rubbing against the slick fiberglass surface. Let it get dirty and the squeak will go away. Painters tape will work too.

Take some rubbing alcohol on a rag and wipe down the fiberglass under the lids to remove any wax or polishing residue. Should take care of it.

Go to home depot or Lowes and get some clear window seal tape. It comes in a roll like duct tape. I put strips on the lids where they rest on the hatch rims and it works like a charm.

Mine didn’t squeak for 5 years. I had brain fart and waxed the deck. Squeaking started and I couldn’t stop it. I used everything you can think of without helping. I finally put small furnitures pads. No problems

Yeah that’s pretty much what I did. I whipped it all down and not it squeaks everywhere.

I use the weatherseal window tape they sell at lowes and homedepot - works great.

Just where the lid edges contact the fiberglass. Will eliminate the squeaking immediately.

Mine did the same thing. I just washed it with soapy water (dawn dish soap) and the squeaks went away. Like said above it’s where the carpet on the lid edges contacts the fiberglass.

Any other recommendations for fixing squeaks? I have a 2017 920. Livewell lids, large lid covering gas tank and port side of rear battery compartment lid all squeak when stood on. I have removed all 6 lids on back deck and would like to fix all squeaks the correct way before putting all lids back on. Thanks Mike

That window seal tape is best for me - you can't even see it and it works 100% and comes off with no reside.

I know on my 21phx I removed the two plastic corner trays under the center tackle lid and the squeaks went away. It was plastic lids getting squeezed between the lid and the rim they sit on.

I did the pads also. They wore out and the squeak is back. Bought new ones!

The squeak will go away. My rig is now 6 months old and does not squeak. But remember, never wax the compartment lid tops.
