    2001 ChampioN 196 DCX Elite

    Hello everyone!

    I'm new to the Champion forum as I'm looking at a 2001 196 DCX Elite. Going to test drive it Saturday, but before I go: Does anyone have one of these boats or know details about this model! I'd love to know what you all think about it.

    My buddy has one, nice boat. Not a speed demon, but neither is my 198. As usual, check the transom bolts & tie downs for brown streaks. If it has brown streaks, you might want to pass on it.

    I have one. Same year. LOVE it. Wish it had a 225, but it does OK. Runs about 66-67 most days...

    Fishability is GREAT. Very stable boat with plenty of storage.

    I have an 01-196 with 200 3.3 yamaha, 10" jack plate, run mine at 2.5 below pad, has a phase kit from Hydrotec runs good! Love the boat, fishes and rides great.

    Yeah...I have one too. 8" Slidemaster currently at 2.5" below pad. Running a Croxton 24XL at the moment, but I'm playing with props...

    Likely going to a worked 25 Tempest or worked 24 Trophy in the spring...

    I don't really need the 4 blade, I just like the way the boat handles when running one.

    Great boat! As stated not a speed demon however 60-63 is fine with me. Good storage, very stable, great ride in rough water.

    If you buy it, take to Hydrotec and get a phase kit, it will run alot better if you want more speed.

    Just got it home this weekend! Topped out around 64 at WOT. Plenty of speed for me
