    Season Over

For me anyway. Looks like this weekend will be the last nice one for a number of months. Boat going in to storage this week after I clean it out, take off all the electronics and trolling motor, clean it up, change oil and lower unit fluids.

Sad, was a great year fishing since I moved back up here from Las Vegas late last year. Managed to put 60+ hours on the engine and zero issues with the boat all summer. Not bad for a boat I bought in December of 2018 that had been sitting outside for two years and, for a 2013 boat, very neglected. Turned out to be a great deal for me and gave me a good winter project "restoring" it to like new. Hard to say "restore" for a 2013 boat but it was in really rough shape.

Anyway, now my buddies are trying to convince me to go ice fishing this winter. We'll see how that goes :)

I always wait for the first salt trashing of the roads before I put mine away for the year. Water temps still hovering around 50. Caught this chubby yesterday. 20.5".

There was a time that I didn't fish but I cannot remember it.

She ate a Jewel Finesse jig with a Zoom Little Critter Craw and I saw the line jump before it hit the bottom. It was approx 4-5' of water in a submerged tree top. I'm pretty sure that had the water been warmer, I'd have never gotten her out of the branches.

Best time of year. Cold doesn’t bother me that much. As long as the water is above 38 it’s a great bite. Usually.

    LOL got it.

I want so badly to hit the water for another swing at some big fish. Afraid that this week will cool things down even further. Water temps already below 48. With so few bites if any, braving the cold sounds less and less interesting.

Water was 40.6 yesterday and the fish were smashing. Stuck a hook into my finger as I tried to stupidly swing a good one over the side of the boat on spinning gear and the fish shook, causing the rod to shoot the spybait like an arrow into my hand with a thud. (been use to swinging fish on heavy gear all summer and was still in that mindset). 28 degree temps were a good thing, as numb hands made it easy to one handed take the split ring off the treble, cut a piece of line, hold the treble shank down with my hooked hands thumb and use my free right hand to do the line trick. There was no way that hook wasn't coming out and forcing me to miss any fishing. Temps don't look good, and guessing after this weekend it's going to iced pretty quick during the coming week with bad lows and highs.
