What year(if they even did) did nitro go to a composite transom? Looking for new boats and found a couple but don't want to deal with past issues on a new to me boat...

well it depends on the model, 9 series was the first model to go all composite transom. back in 1998.

Don’t confuse composite with no wood. Plywood is a composite.

9 series did not have wood in the transom. I agree with the above statement though.

You can call nitro support and they know what went into almost every boat. They explained that they use "composite" as a plywood, glass, plywood sandwich with resin coating. Unless this changed in the very recent future, Nitros have wood in them. My 2007 certainly does.
I have a boat.
Not in the transom insert.... at least For 9 series and certain Zs series. Model does matter in this conversation. Unless they have changed something since 2008. defiantly they use the balsa for any area that needs meat for screws or extra support. I never saw it anywhere structurally when I visited the factory.
I agree what composite means.
