Call the insurance company and ask.

I went through this same issue on a 07 Z21...they way they worded it was "any permanently attached equipment" is theirs.

I bought my rig back from the insurance co. It was a 1994 Nitro 2000DC with a 175 Merc EFI. I gave them $500 for everything. Came out pretty good on that deal.
There’s no use being stupid if you’re not willing to show it off.

Usually the engine is listed on the policy, as is the trailer. So I would think if they are settling and recovering some of their cost in salvage, they would deduct or cancel your claim if you remove your engine.

Some insurance companies will settle and let you keep the boat, often it's not worth their time to recover salvage value vs. the cost to do so.
