    Bad gas sensor or gauge?

I have a 2003 196, which has a 52 gallon gas tank. The other day the gauge showed almost empty so took to fill up and it would only take 15.5 gallons to the very top. How can I tell between the gauge and sensor which is bad?

Rick, my first guess would be the sender, but it could just as easily be the gauge. Pinned at the top of the forum, I have a thread titled Champion Information and OEM Links for more Champ info . Go there and scroll down to gauge troubleshooting. There is a link for the gauge and one for the sender.

Thanks again Reggie.....bass biting out your way? Going to take my nephew down to Sam Rayburn 2 or 3 days the second week of November. Looking forward to that for sure.

It's been mixed. Pretty tough the last 2-3 weeks. My boat is out of commission, so I've been begging a back seat in a buddy's Ranger.
