    Renegade 25p vs shooter 25p

I have a 481v with a gt 175 Johnson on it. Looking for the best prop. I have been told these are about the same. I’m not familiar with props to much and help would be appreciated.

The shooter was OMC's first try at making a four blade and it wasn't very good but the Renegade runs OK on some boats. On a Ranger I'd run a three blade for bow lift or a bravo.

The shooter is a great prop engineered to operate on the late 80' early 90's engine. It is a very very good all around prop for the OMC engines

Shooters get a bad rap all the time , but are a nice prop for the right set-up, when I 1st got my boat it had a 27shooter no jackplate and on a 300 series Ranger with one of OMC "Hot" motor and would run 63 all day long with a blistering holeshot.

Per y’all’s recommendation I got a shooter 25p. I tried it today and it ran 55mph at 5300rpm. Hole shot isn’t what I thought it would be. I was told that it could be the gap between the foot and the prop. It’s got a pretty good gap there. About an inch I guess. How much of a difference do the holes in the side of the prop make. Thanks.

You can run a blowout ring it will
make a difference on holeshot.did you
use the he correct thrust washer with it?
Sounds like the gap is too big.

With a 25" prop you would be closer to 60+ if the prop wasn't slipping real bad. If the shooter was such a good prop why did OMC quit making it?

I will get me a blowout ring. I just read a good bit on them and I should have got it when I got the prop. The guy just said he thought it was only for keeping weeds out of prop. Do you also know the thrust washer that is needed for this set up. Thanks hapopr.

25 renegade with the blowout ring and proper thrust washer should get you 60 .. if your motors running correctly. 55 at 5300 is that gps speed? and is your tach off maybe? With my johnson 175 on the ranger could spin the renegade 25 to 5800 and 62 mph somethings amiss.

I am getting the proper washer and the weed ring. Yes 55 is gps speed. Tach could be off, I’m not sure. When I get this ring and washer I am going to run it again.

That machined area should go back into
    The lower.The blades should almost
    touch the lower unit.

Looks like you've got the wrong thrustwasher on there or have it on backwards. Don't run it that way.

Did you change out the thrustwasher with the proper one?

Looking online for that 90' 175 shows 2 different ones, one for 3 blade and one for 4 blade.

I haven’t changed the thrust washer yet. I haven’t ran it anymore either.
