    Humminbird AD-MTM mount quality

I need to mount my transducer for my Helix G2 mega on the trolling motor. I have read some reviews about the AD-MTM easily getting broken. Would like to hear from folks here who have used this mount.
Is it a good mount or should I just bite the bullet and get the pricier shield and saver brand?

Have not used the AD MTM, but have one. I do have the ones for the MEGA SI+ and MEGA DI+ transducers.

They are a somewhat reinforced hollow plastic block and may not stand up to severe use crashing into hard surfaces. They don't have the front protection that the Transducer Shield and Saver mount provides.
Neither has bottom and side protection but the Humminbird mount is the same width as the transducer which maybe a benefit with a glancing blow from a stump.

Using the TS&S, you will destroy the transducer before you damage the mount. Probably the opposite using the AD MTM.

I have the TS&S mounts for the ONIX HDSI transducer and number series/Helix HDSI transducer. Those have been crashed into trees/stumps a lot with no damage except for the cable. I fixed that with a custom cable protector:

Thanks for the reply Wayne! I like the cable protection!
I wonder if a guy could fill in the voids with an epoxy to make the humminbird mount more like one piece...maybe make it more durable??

Yes, that was discussed in a post a couple of years ago

You mean the filling in of the voids was discussed?
If so, did anyone do it and was it a success?

Yes that was discussed, I participated in that thread and considered doing it IF I was going to put the SOLIX MEGA SI transducer on the trolling motor.
No one has reported actually doing it that I know of.
The price of the Transducer Shield and Saver mount for that transducer was why that was a consideration.
Plus if you get the HB mount, it includes a choke cable for the battery charger for a multi-bank charger that does the trolling motor battery/s and the starting battery.

    Interesting!
What exactly do the choke cables do?

Yep, I know someone that has one. His transducer looks like a truck ran over it and the mount is still holding.
