    150 OptiMax rev limiter

My 2006 150 OptiMax has a 5750 RPM limit. Once it reaches that limit will it automatically shut down or can exceed it? The reason I’m asking is I’m going to continue to raise my motor and I’m at 5600 RPM now, I’m just wondering if I can get it too high or if it will automatically stop at 5750.
    thx

You should get a warning alarm at 5750 then it will shut back at 5790 to 2500 rpms in Guardian mode. Then you will have to shut it off and restart. You Need to make sure you have water pressure over 12 Lbs. at wide open or you could burn it up.

Thank you for the reply’s. I have no intention of exceeded it, I was just wondering if I hit it if it would shut down. I’ve raised my engine enough at this point to get to 5600 rpm’s I’m going to keep raising it 1/4 inch each time until I hit 5700 or a little above and call it good. is a 1/4” increments enough or should I use 1/2” increments? Water pressure is ~15 at WOT.

Just know that RPM's will increase at water and air temps drop. I lose 200-300 RPM's during the warmer weather months. You can't defeat thermodynamics.

1/4" at a time is enough just watch the water pressure in turns.
