    2001 Merc 175 EFI Prop

Looking at buying a 2001 Merc EFI
What pitch prop will preform best on the motor. I will be installing this motor on a 1997 Ranger 461VS with a 6" hydro jack plate.

25p Trophy+ would be a good starting point. Need to adjust your setup so the motor will turn between 5,800-6,000rpm

I'd go with a 25" Tempest+. Better lifting prop, and Rangers need lift to perform.

I have a 175 merc on an 18' Ranger and am currently running a 24p trophy plus, but it's a little too much prop in my opinion.

I'd start w/ a 23p trophy plus or 24p tempest and go from there

A 25 Trophy plus will likely be too tall for this setup to get near max rpm, and it will be a dog on holeshot. The 2.5 doesn't have much low end.

If you're going to try a trophy, a 23 might even be a bit tall in summer heat. I run a 23 Trophy+ on a fresh 2.5 200 EFI on an 2000 Tr-20 in the heat, otherwise its a pita trying to get it up on plane with any load.

I'll second that. Nothing like a Tempest!

I have a mercury 13.75x24p stainless prop I accidentally bought and it’s too large for my 90hp mercy if interest PM me, I think I paid $75 for it used (not nicked up) but got it at a flee market. With shipping maybe $85 would work, cheap way to know if ur n the right path
