Awesome write up!
24’Bass Cat Puma Sts-300 Proxs
23’Gatortrax Gt tunnel hull-200 Suzuki
Great write up! Going to be awesome seeing them out there. Congrats on the new rig!
great write up as always Matt you got a hell of a rig that is for sure.
So is “Puma/Hybrid” the official name of the boat?
The models will be:
Puma 203 Hybrid
Cougar 203 Hybrid
Same price...
Just need the damn lottery to cooperate, so I can get me a Cougar 203 Hybrid! Awesome accomplishment by Rick and guys at Bass Cat. I can't wait to ride in a hybrid hull.
According to what all I have read (here, Charger forum, etc.) the hybrid hull will be a bit dryer and better riding, but the existing Puma hull (I have a 2016) will be a tick or two faster, correct?
Bass Cat hulls will be Significantly faster.

This is sounding like a "Eureka" moment. Truly a blend of the best each boat had to offer, Champion ride and handling with the Cat layout and build quality.

Existing puma and cougar hulls are faster than the hybrid hull.
It one of our competitive dealer friends said this week... another company is now using an old Javelin hull and “it’s a good riding and driving hull, but it’s only a 72 MPH boat with a 250”. The 203 Hybrid will suffer from similar situations, on long runs there will be a slight advantage with the air flow BCB uses. It just won’t gain as much and the pad and offset hull design limits some key areas of potential.

Only 72? Seems like they may have too much weight forward because 72 is barely breaking things loose for that hull and what its capable of. Build quality has my attention today and I am willing to sacrifice some for it but I would be curious to know which company is using that old hull?

Finlander, that was referencing an older Javelin hull. Not the 203 Hybrid and the older Champion hulls were right there.
Speed is great, but if you live where the wind almost always blows 15-20mph, ride quality starts to matter more. I had a Skeeter that I loved when it was calm, but add some whitecaps and the thing would bounce your teeth out.
