I owned 3 Stratos 201's and 72 sounds more like 200 HP vs 250, even for a Javelin which shared the same hull with Stratos. The Stratos XL hull with the radius strakes and stepped pad that debuted in 93 and carried through 2017. This Hull is the one that is so coveted and should easily break 72 with a 250. Not only was it fast it was also one of the best handling hulls ever designed. I am not a Nitro fan but Johnny M. took the radius strake concept and married it to the latest Nitro line up. Not having any experience in a Nitro I could not say how much of an improvement this made. I believe the radials vs the typical strakes is what helped the boat track better as it channeled water flow rather than disrupting it at speed. Organized and directed flow vs disturbed and irregular is how I would define it and this is what smoothed out the ride.
If the Hybrid Cougar can nip mid 70's with a 4 blade, I would be satisfied with that. I do not need to be breaking 80 today but having the power to weight ratio right fixes a lot of other issues.
