521L prop recommendations
I’m currently running a 26p raker on my Evinrude G2 on a 521L. It runs really well, but I’m only seeing about 5500 RPMs. Should I drop down a pitch, buy a fury, or any other suggestions. It’s running about 68mph right now.

How is the hole shot? Is your current prop a Raker H.O.? [Assume it is.] Are the prop vents completely open? If not, they should be. Typically that’s a very strong prop, but if you’re running 5500, and we know the 521 is a big boat, you may also be heavily loaded and need a tad less pitch.

Hole shot is fine, I’m just thinking I should be turning more RPMs.

Gotcha. One thing you could do, over the winter, is send your prop to Mark Croxton and have him reduce pitch to gain a couple hundred rpms. I’m guessing your water is still pretty warm, so you may not want to redline your rig. Or if you want [and don’t already have] a spare prop, a 25 pitch in a Fury 3 might be a good fit for you. What’s not certain is whether your boat would be any faster with lower pitch/higher rpms, but Mark has a wealth of knowledge on such questions.
