    Use stainless screws. Anything on a boat needs to be rust resistant.

    all the screws i put in the steering wheel are stainless steel i just used the grade 8 screws in the wheel puller bc the guy at ace told me they are harder and would less likely to snap under pressure. I used an impact wrench to get the big nut off and it came right off and the wheel puller alllowed me to not have to hit my helm with a hammer after all its 17 years old.
