    Compression 2001 90hp Mercury

I’m not a boat mechanic. However, considering the age of the motor I recorded a compression reading of 74, 74, and 71. My process was to pull the kill switch and test each chamber, pulling out one spark plug at a time.

What would you deduce from this reading?

Try another tester, would never expect such consistent, low readings. Warm motor before, throttle @ WOT.

all plugs out? warmed up and throttle wide open during test? seems to low to be a good running motor if it even runs at all?

Pull all the plugs and open the throttle. those are low numbers. Make sure your battery is charged and healthy.
