    Texas Kill Switch law

I have a 1999 champion 186. The new Texas kill switch law says the boat operator must have a lanyard attached to the kill switch while the boat is on plane. My boat doesn't have a snap off still lanyard. I have up/down toggle switch to kill the motor. What can I do to comply with law. Do I have to replace the kill switch?

Mercury? The kill switch lanyard slips over the toggle.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

kill switch.jpg The lanyard has a connector like this if it's a Mercury. Flip the toggle switch down, slip the connector over the toggle flip it up and your good to go.

Yup...better than living the ignorant life that soo many do. I'm sure there is plenty of bass boat "stuff" that I am clueless about. I'm what they call a mechanical idiot. It's always good to have this board to help.

Since we're all about learning and stuff. Hooking up the lanyard to the kill switch is completely useless,UNLESS you have the other end connected to your person. Still funny. Hope somebody learned something

The law also covers that little tidbit. You have to have it attached to your person, or PFD if worn.
