As long as it meets the Yamaha rating standard (Which it does) it should not be an issue, I have been running the Amsoil marine and lower gear oil in my 150 SHO since the first change.
Everything I own that has an Engine/Tranmission gets Amsoil since 1990. Just like mknj671 says, match the ratings that Yamaha wants.
