    Conventional or Magneto Ignition Switch for Merc 40HP 2 Stroke

    Have a circa 2002 Merc 40 HP 2 Stroke (sorry, serial number has been peeled off and cannot provide) and ignition switch needs replaced.

    I believe it needs a Magneto type ignition switch but also see that there are Conventional type marine ignition switches available.

    Would someone please confirm what type of ignition switch is required by a 2 stroke outboard?
