I have a DF200SS on a Falcon 195 that came with a 14.25x26P 4 blade prop. Breaking in my engine, and starting to think my boat is under propped. What would you guys recommend running?

I have a 14.5" x 27 pitch 3 blade on my Gambler Outlaw with a 200SS on it. I am breaking in mine as well but so far I like the results.

That's a 19 foot boat right? What speeds are you getting? I know these suzuki's require higher pitches. Someone recommended a 14.25 x 28p 4 blade.Originally Posted by firemech048

My DF200SS has a 2.5 gear ratio lol. Hard to prop indeed. Hoping someone here can shed some light and post some numbers.
Suzuki selected those ratios for a reason, I'm not exactly sure what the reason is but maybe the slower a prop goes the more efficient it is. I think the larger diameter prop is best for a bay boat. There are lots of pitch variances available in a 16 inch diameter, I have some 23.5's and am running a 16 inch 3 blade 24.5 right now on my 20 foot Stratos with a 175. I need another 25 horsepower.
I have only been able to run my motor at max rpm for short periods since i am breaking it in. I know even with the 27 pitch 3 blade it will hit the rev limiter. I have run a 26 pitch 4 blade 15.5" diameter and i can easily hit the rev limiter. Both give me a great hole shot. I tried the 16" diameter props on my Gambler and they did not perform well. I run an Atlas 8" jack plate too. My gambler is loaded with accessories too.

The 200 has a 2.50 to 1 gear ratio too. I have a 28 pitch 4 blade 14.5" i may try after break in.

Don't think I'm advising you to run a 19 inch prop, I'm just running one because I stole them @$50 each. I got them because I saw a story on a bay boat that had 2 Suzuki's on it and it ran 57 MPH or so, below the rev limiter.
I spoke to falcon and they're baseline recommendation is a 14.25x28p 4 blade. The 27 pitch 3 blade is intriguing as well. Are these all suzuki brand watergrip props?
I went out today to do some testing at WOT. At 4000 rpms I was getting about 33-34 mph. At 5800 rpms I got about 53 mph. This is with the 14.25 x 28p 4 blade. Seems like I'm getting a bit of slip in the midrange, and an acceptable amount near WOT. I didn't get a chance to hit the rev limiter as the lake I tested on is pretty small. Hopefully I'll be able to do some more testing at Jordan or Falls.
So it seems like I need to increase the pitch and the diameter. I found a 14.25 x 28p 3 blade on ebay at a good price. This would probably give me more top end, but it might not do anything for me in the midrange. Still, it's a great price. What do you guys think?
I thought adding a blade increased the "bite" of the prop, and going from a 4 blade to a 3 blade with the same pitch and diameter would be a step backward and increase RPM with a decrease in speed.
Maybe Suzuki will change the L/U gear ratios some day and help us bass types out.
I would be increasing the pitch front 26 to 28
New 2019 200ss on procraft 192 superpro went from 14.5 25 pitch wg. To 14.5 27 pitch wg. And raised motor 2 holes. (Motor seemed to low 1 hole left)Top end 60 same as 25 pitch, rpm 5900. Holeshot maybe a tad slower. Was hitting rev limiter wot with 25 pitch. Also added a wedge. Probably not needed. Boat planes out 25% trim and blows out if tucked all the way in with hole shot. Boat seems to be more responsive with 27 pitch. Anybody looking for a new wg. 14.5 25 pitch will be willing to trade or sale. Maybe had a hour on prop flawless. Hope everyone else is having best results with your testing. Had to open up a compartment to get a visual on my fuel tank, thinking my gauge was broke.went from full to 90% in three trips breaking in motor . Gauge was accurate45 gal tank. Breakin is complete.

I would try a solas Titan HR4 in a 25 or 26p. I just got one for my 250ss in a 27p and man did it make a difference. I can’t get on the limiter with the 27 as it runs about 2 pitch stiff. I had a 27p solas scorpion and could only get 64-65 out of it. With the titan and didn’t even really play with jackplate I reached 71. These props are amazing and for the price hard to beat

How much are you wanting for the 25? I'm running a 16 x 23 on a 175 and wouldn't mind trying smaller diameter/larger pitch.
Switched out the original 25 at dealer for 27. Bought a spare when I got the motor Tried it to see if any difference. $500 is what I was thinking.
