    Mercury 4 Blade on 20PHX

Saw some posts on here re props so thought I would post this. Ran the 24 Fury 4 yesterday on my 250 4S. Did not really push it re top speed but ran it up to about 72 with just me and light load. I can tell you it was easier to drive than the 24 Fury 3. The 3 blade is faster but needs a lot more during input at speed. As you would expect holeshot was better than the 3 blade and overall the boat hooked up tighter when in waves and wakes. The 4 blade does take some of the sports car feel away and gives it the sedan feel. Takes a little longer to get to speed too. Lifts the overall boat and you can trim more than with the 3 blade without losing the control. You can trim until you lose bite where the 3 blade you lose control before losing bite. Seems to like about 12 on the Atlas gauge. Really good option if you don't need the extra 2-3 MPH.

Have heard the Fury 4 is good prop unless you have a heavy load. The slightly thinner design to accommodate the fourth blade and keep weight consistent creates just enough flex under heavy loads you will eventually blow a blade. Was about to buy one, but my prop/lower unti guy, who I know well since I fish stumpy lakes in Texas said he would sell me one, but if my boat was heavy, I would be back a bit more often..... Just saying....Good Luck

And I thought it was designed for heavy loads.

I wish more people were running this setup so we had reports of other props to try out. As to 4 blades I ran a Bravo I on a prior boat and it seemed to be a good prop but I no longer have one. Croxton makes a 4 blade as well and I read a report on a 921 that someone was running a Merc Hi Five 5 blade. Hate to spend $500 again and again experimenting. I have a call in to Croxton and will report. May just have my Fury 3 blade worked.

You might want to try a bravo 1 4 blade. I am running a 26 bravo 1 on my 21 PHX with 250 yamaha sho and getting great speed and hole shot! i didn't like the way my 3 blade yamaha 25 t-2 ran on my phx. Really hard to drive compared to the 4 blade.

I have both a Fury 27 and Bravo 4 blade 27. Im still learning to drive the boat, but with the Bravo I hit 78.4 and was still pulling and had to get out of it since I was running out of space. The Bravo runs excellent in rough water, just put the JP down and got on top of the white caps and ran 60 back across the lake...Much smoother ride than my old iClass was...Once I learn the boat more Im going to put the Fury back on, its been 84.1 with full load and one person..

Love the Fury 4 on my PHX 21 - I haven't found anything I like better yet.
