Brand new 2018 20 TRX Suddenly TurningOff Optimax 250 Pro xs, HELP

My new boat has has the same issue every time I have had it on the water. The issue seems to be more pronounced when it is hot outside. After fishing for a period of time, the next time I turn the boat on it will immediately cut off. The only thing that works to turn it back on is to open the fuel tank lid (which usually hisses from pressure release) and then pumping the fuel ball). I am convinced that there is a venting issue with pressure building up in the tank or maybe creating a vacuum in the fuel system. This is a big issue for me and am going to have to take it back to the dealer 2 hours away yet again. Any ideas or similar experiences? Thanks so much in advance.

Check the Fuel Demand Valve. The tank is supposed to hold pressure in. Newer boats don't vent the fuel tank like old models.

Is this a mercury item or triton? Is the valve in the tank?

Sounds like the pressure valve is bad, thanks to the gov all new boats have these.

i think you need to send him a PM, this poor guy had a fuel tank failure full of sand and had the whole top cat stripped off and replaced tank by Triton, talk to him apparently it wasn’t the only one

I have the same issue which started to happen ~1 year old. At first it would only happen when I throttled up. Now it also happens mid day running across the lake. I would pump the bulb a few times and okay for awhile.

Man, I hate to hear this. Mine is now fixed. Thankfully. Certainly many possibilities for the issues you are having, but if u take it in, ask for your tank to be scoped and inspect VST. That will tell you what you need to know. I hope it is something easy and not related to the tank.

Check the wires on your perko switch. My wires were loose and my motor would cut out every time out.

They had to split my boat apart and put a new fuel tank in. The fuel tank apparently had some sort of curing issues (which I still don't fully understand). I actually spoke with a Triton corporate guy confirming the diagnosis once they got the boat to the factory. Obviously the entire fuel delivery system was either replaced or torn down and cleaned to mercury standards. The symptoms were like clock work though. Up until it was finally fixed, I never had a single outing in 6-7 months, including the first launch, where I didnt have major motor issues.

Good news is that it runs great now so far over the last 3-4 months or so . I'm glad to be back fishing again.
