    What's the best and cheapest way to ship a lower unit cross country. Thanks

    Take it to ups. Have them pack and ship it. Insure for full retail amount. If it don't make it intact. You collect full amount plus get shipping cost back.

    I had a flat crate made from a crating company. Shipped Fed-X ground to the destination. Insure it for replacement value!

    European marine uses FedEx insured. It is expensive.
