    Not getting on plane

    Had a tournament yesterday. Boat ran perfect to the first spot. When moving to the second spot it had trouble starting then would not get past idle. If I take it out of gear and rev it, it doesnt seem to have a problem, only when in gear and pushing up on plane. The motor is a 09/00 Yamaha Vmax 3.1L The decal on the outside says engine family 1YMXM3.131CC. A similar occurrence happened a couple years ago and the marina said it was a clogged filter. So far after getting out of the water I checked the Fuel filter and check valve under the cowling and will swap out the water separator filter. Is there anything else you would recommend checking? Fuel pump clogged? I have a tournament this weekend and the marina probably would not be able to fit me in.

    Looking online I am guessing its the VST filter. I just ordered one and will give it a go.

    Mine started doing this this past weekend. A quick compression check found a blown cylinder.
