Congrats on all the hard work I know it takes to retirement. I'm 3 years in and love it.

Retirement really IS all it's cracked up to be. I can't imagine ever working again. It's been almost 3 years now.
Retirement is just like everything else in life.. It's what you make it
I have been retired three years and , like so many other retirees, I don't know when I had time to work. I still only get to fish one day a week but it is during the middle of the week when I am not competing with the working folks.
Beware of the family, neighbors, and church members who who have the attitude, "You're retired and you have a truck. You can help me with. . ."
Sick, tired, hungry, broke, busted, disgusted, can't be trusted, been imposed on and won't fight
I retire from my career of 36 years in 29 more days. However it has already become evident that I will still be employed by my wife. She is writing my task statements now.
I will retire in 44 days. I hope its all I think it will be

Retirement! It’s even better than you imagine!
"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments
Retirement is cool. Temps are going to drop about 20 degrees next week here. My biggest decision is do I fish Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday next week?
You've worked towards retirement. Enjoy. It’s a whole new pace to life.

"It's just fishing"
It is whatever you make it. I can't believe how wonderful it has been even with some health issues that had to be taken care of. I had a very challenging job that I worked long hard hours at for 34 years and I didn't think I would be able to stand not working but I was very wrong. Life is amazingly good.
Man I enjoy this thread oh and for those that are retired I hate you lol just kidding
Like a couple have said; it's what you make of it. I would advise a person to find something to do in order to stay active. The guys I knew that really looked forward to it and stayed active did well. The few that retired because they needed to because of their wife's health or something never seemed to do well. In fact, I had a supervisor that never drew a retirement check. He died 10 days after his retirement party. I think he just gave up.
I've been at it for 15 years now and in that time I've whittled it down to the 2 D.s Dog Park and Dishes. If I can go to the Dog park and come home and do the Dishes, then the rest is gravy, its a FULL DAY. I'd also add that living on the water will add another 40% more fishing, it is far easier to get motivated when the crap is half done and no dickheads cutting You off in traffic. <--- This is VERY IMPORTANT because You'll soon find out that the lakes have far less traffic during the week; that there is a + now to balance that out ---> The folks who are working/going to/fro work are FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU AND YOUR FISHING BOAT DURING THE WEEK, now as You read that picture the guy in a teal Prius™ all pissed off because You let the elderly Lady in, You gave 'Cuts!' How dare You...
You'll see..
That is a sweet rig! Still can launch a boat with it. Saw two recently-one full size extended several feet beyond bumper-big rig. Looks like it would sink on those steep slippery ramps. Then saw the pop up on a big truck-250 Ford. Sweet solution. 350 even better.
got me thinking that may be my solution too! Enjoy.
A friend of mine retired and made the comment "if I knew I was going to enjoy retirement this much I would have never went to work 40 years"
Retirements is ones desire.. trying to start mine in 3.5 yrs or earlier, but, what’s enough? House paid off, cars good and clear, bike clear, boat is clear.
