    Mercury revolution 4

I have a charger 396 with a Honda 225 with 2/1 lower. I'm turning a 25 tempest to 6000 rpm at 65-66 mph at just about any engine height from top to bottom of jackplate. Holeshot and driveability are better at higher heights. My boat runs best flat at neutral to slight positive trim like my 20xd bullet. Im thinking that due to my extremely heavy engine that maybe some stern lift might help. There is a 23 mercury rev 4 for sale locally and wanted to get y'alls opinion on it for my setup. Thank you

I don't have anywhere near the same rig as you but I run a 25 Tempest and a 23 Rev 4 on a Triton TR 196. I am not a top end guy but I can tell you that on my rig the 23 Rev 4 and the 25 Tempest turn close to the same RPM with the Rev 4 slightly higher. The few times I tried to run WOT, the Tempest was faster. The Rev 4 does everything else better on my rig. As opposed to mostly stern lift like a Bravo, the Rev 4 lifts the entire boat. For a rig that likes to run flat it might be the ticket - but every rig is different. Not being a top end guy, I seldom run my Tempest any more. Hope that helps.

I wish the Rev4 was made in taller pitch's than 25.... I'd like to try one.

I bought the 23 rev 4. Going to run it this afternoon and I'll put up a stat comparison to my tempest.

Ran the 23 rev 4. 3/4 tank of gas, usual tackle, and passenger load. Ran at the same height I last ran my tempest which is goofy high. Holeshot with all holes plugged is great. Acceleration great. Top speed dropped by 1/2 to 1 mph. Turned slightly more rims than the 25 tempest. Right at breakover there's slight slip and I'm calculating 10% at wot. I got this prop very cheap. There are small nicks in every leading edge and it was run through sand at some point. Got it cheap to have worked. I'm sure there's mph in just a cleanup then with work I think this prop will get me to 70

Every blade is at least this bad with a dull leading edge and multiple nicks

It really freed the hull up with the added stern lift and has at least as much bow lift as the tempest plus. Based on mine a 25 should run really close to a 27 tempest. I think it will be a fast very good riding well handling prop on my setup

I'm trying to buy a brand new 25P Rev 4 just for kicks.

I bought a new 26 Fury4 and never ran it before I had Mark pitch it up to a 27... I didn't like it much. Maybe I should have tried it as a 26.

I didn't really consider a fury 4 as much as the revolution. I know nothing about a fury 4 but I've never been a fan of a fury 3 on any boats I've fooled with

The fury three blade is only 14 inch diameter, that is very small for a three blade. The fury four is 14.5 inch diameter and bigger than many four blades.

Not diameter or geometry, but what are the different performance characteristics of a rev4 vs promax vs bravo?

I'm sure 21xdc can answer all your prop questions. I only have the experience with the rev 4. It turns stiff. A 23 is right on with my 25 tempest. I get less bow rise in holeshot, much more stern lift to help with my 610 pound engine. Dramatically reduced steering effort to the left and it will pick the bow up higher than my tempest with trim. I don't need the bow lift but the added stern lift freed my hull up a lot more and I think with work the rev 4 will be a fast prop with my 225 honda

I'll find out as I own a 28P Bravo1 and a 28 Promax.... But the Rev 4 only goes up to a 25P. Hard to compare actually. This prop may just be a stump jumper for me.

My Z520 w/Etec250 H.O. will do just under 70 with the Rev4 25p. Excellent holeshot and smooth midrange to high, and a good slow plane. Just not the best prop for me if I'm looking for top speed.
