Revo Winch for deep or heavier cranks. Pflueger Patriarch or Revo STX (6.4:1) for squarebills, shallow (6’ or less) or small cranks.

I've got 4 or 5 of the Conquests and they are sweet ,but I bought a new curado and if theres a better reel for the money I have not seen it . BUT the rod you choose is very important part of the package , got to match the lure weight .

I use three Conquest 100 's as my cranking reels.
I did switch out the stock handles to 100mm handles.
The longer handles make a huge difference.
My cranking rods are the old black cumara 7' reaction series.
I did extend the butt sections on the rods to give better leverage.

I am looking to start throwing Crankbaits a lot more than I do now. I would like to use a spinning set up but don't see a lot of them designed to do that task specifically. From what I have read, rod should be Medium or Medium Heavy power and Moderate fast action. Wondering if a Dropshot rod would work sufficient. If not, I am looking at the Dobyns 705CB rod, paired with a Daiwa Tatula Baitcaster. What are your thoughts on this. I prefer a spinning rod but can use either or.

Have changed my mind and decided to go with a baitcaster set up. G Loomis E6X 843C CBR paired with a Daiwa Tatula reel.
